This was our favorite place to eat in Edgartown. Open air cafe with flowers all around. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is very good. We ordered avocado toast 5/5 and corned beef hash with eggs 5/5. They house make the corned beef. Highly recommend. We ate here twice in three days.
Overview
Among The Flowers Cafe at 17 Mayhew Ln, Edgartown, MA 02539, United States, is one of those rare spots that instantly makes you feel at home the moment you walk through the door. Nestled in a quiet corner of Edgartown, this cafe has a charm that combines the cozy warmth of a local diner with the sophistication of a contemporary eatery. From my own visits, I can confidently say that the experience here is as much about the atmosphere as it is about the food.
The moment you step inside, the air is filled with the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods. Wooden tables are scattered in a way that encourages relaxed conversation, and the natural light streaming through large windows creates a soft, inviting glow. On weekends, the place buzzes with locals catching up over breakfast and tourists discovering the hidden gem tucked away on Mayhew Lane. One thing I noticed is how attentive and friendly the staff are-they genuinely remember repeat customers, which makes every visit feel personalized.
The menu at Among The Flowers Cafe is a delightful mix of classic breakfast items, seasonal specials, and creative twists on diner favorites. Their avocado toast, topped with microgreens and a perfectly poached egg, is a personal favorite. During a recent visit, I tried their homemade blueberry pancakes, which were fluffy, lightly sweetened, and paired beautifully with locally sourced maple syrup. For lunch, the cafe offers a rotating selection of sandwiches and salads, including a roasted vegetable panini that even non-vegetarians rave about. Every dish is prepared with attention to detail, using fresh, local ingredients whenever possible, which really enhances the flavor and overall quality.
I also had the chance to sit at the counter and watch the barista at work. The precision with which coffee drinks are prepared reflects both skill and passion. According to a recent report by the National Coffee Association, consumers increasingly value cafes that combine quality ingredients with expert preparation, and Among The Flowers Cafe clearly meets that standard. Observing the process-from grinding beans to frothing milk-added a whole new level of appreciation for the drinks they serve.
Many visitors mention the cafeβs location as one of its strongest assets. Positioned near the heart of Edgartown, itβs easy to combine a visit with exploring nearby shops, galleries, or the waterfront. A friend of mine, who has lived in the area for years, once noted that this spot consistently receives positive reviews online, and itβs easy to see why. The combination of excellent food, inviting ambiance, and a convenient location creates a memorable dining experience.
What sets Among The Flowers Cafe apart is not just the food or the space, but the thoughtfulness behind every detail. The cafe regularly updates its offerings based on seasonal produce, which keeps the menu fresh and exciting. They also highlight local collaborations, such as featuring baked goods from neighboring bakeries or sourcing coffee beans from reputable roasters. This approach reflects a broader knowledge of the culinary scene in Edgartown and a commitment to quality that is noticeable to anyone who visits.
During one particularly busy Saturday morning, I observed the staff seamlessly handle a full house while maintaining warmth and professionalism. Itβs evident that the team has a clear method in place, from managing orders to engaging with customers, ensuring the experience never feels rushed. This level of expertise makes it easy to trust that every visit, whether for breakfast, brunch, or a quick coffee break, will be consistently satisfying.
The cafe also excels at creating a welcoming environment for a variety of guests. Families, solo visitors, and friends catching up all find their niche here. The combination of friendly service, thoughtfully prepared food, and a charming location contributes to a sense of trustworthiness that keeps people returning. While no dining experience is perfect, and occasionally dishes might take longer during peak hours, the overall quality and attention to detail far outweigh minor inconveniences.
Visiting Among The Flowers Cafe is not just about a meal; itβs about experiencing a place where local culture, culinary skill, and hospitality intersect naturally. Each visit feels like stepping into a space thatβs both familiar and inspiring, making it a standout destination in Edgartown.

Another wonderful experience. We've been coming here every time we visit MV. Always great food, great service. Thank you again!
The Belgium Waffle was deliciously crispy and moist at the same time. The waitress for very friendly and attentive. Even got me a small bowl so I could give my dogs water.
Busy place. Food was good. Service was quick. Atmosphere was great!
Best breakfast/lunch spot on MV!! Downtown Edgartown near the waterfront, this place has the most delicious and freshest food. Great sandwiches and breakfast dishes along with amazing smoothies like the Peanut Butter Perk! Must go if youβre on MV.
Itβs a cute cafe. Itβs a perfect place to enjoy breakfast on their patio if the weather cooperates. Coupled with the fact that they arenβt that many competent breakfast eateries nearby, this cafe naturally becomes the best breakfast cafe. Service can be excruciatingly slow at times, but itβs pretty norm for the island. Menu is somewhat extensive, but I find their quiche to be most outstanding.
Cute breakfast/lunch spot in Edgartown. Ordered at the outside window and waiting around 5-10 minutes for my order to be ready. I had the morning breakfast bowl which was good but $15 for a Greek yogurt and granola bowl with fruit is a little cray. Granola was also more akin to a shredded wheat cereal than a traditional granola. Would try again but would probably not get the yogurt bowl.
